Gallery Assistant

Gallery Nucleus is seeking a dynamic and passionate Gallery Assistant to join our team of art enthusiasts. As a Gallery Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the gallery's daily operations and events. Key Responsibilities:

• Greet and assist gallery visitors, providing exceptional customer service and answering any questions about the gallery and its exhibitions
• Help with the installation and deinstallation of art pieces and exhibitions
• Maintain the appearance of the gallery by keeping it clean and organized
• Assist with the preparation of events, including artist talks, workshops, and other activities
• Monitor the gallery during open hours to ensure the safety and security of the artwork
• Process sales transactions and handle cash and credit card payments
• Keep track of inventory and assist with restocking and pricing of merchandise
• Create engaging and informative content to promote upcoming exhibitions and events
• Collaborate with the team to brainstorm and plan new and exciting projects to drive traffic to the gallery
• Conduct research on potential artists and assist with the curation of future exhibitions
• Provide administrative support such as data entry, filing, and responding to inquiries

Requirements:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required, but a degree in art, art history, or a related field is preferred
• Previous experience in a gallery, museum, or customer service-related role is a plus
• Strong knowledge and interest in contemporary art and the art world in general
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds
• Proficiency in creating engaging content and experience with marketing materials
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
• Attention to detail and a passion for maintaining a clean and inviting gallery space
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for special events and gallery openings
