Optum Home Infusion Pharmacist Job Description

At Optum, we're dedicated to delivering care and improving health outcomes for millions of people around the world. As a Home Infusion Pharmacist, you'll play a critical role in our mission by providing expert care and support to patients in the comfort of their own homes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Dispense and compound medications, including specialty pharmaceuticals and injectables, in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Process and ship outgoing pharmacy orders, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of medications and related supplies.
  • Review medication orders and evaluate appropriateness and completeness, considering the special needs and behaviors of the patient population.
  • Verify prescriptions and provide oversight of the safety, appropriateness, and effectiveness of pharmaceutical care provided to patients.
  • Assess patient needs, develop patient care plans, and monitor patients throughout the course of therapy.
  • Communicate with patients, physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
Requirements:
  • BS in Pharmacy or PharmD degree.
  • Current, unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of North Carolina.
  • Solid drug product and clinical pharmacy knowledge.
  • Experience with infusion-related therapies and ability to work with complex orders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to work accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including rotating weekends and on-call duties.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Nutritionally Certified.
  • Pharmacist with Home Care or Home Infusion experience.
  • Sterile compounding experience.
  • CPR+ software experience.
Physical Requirements:
  • Sitting, standing, and walking in an office/pharmacy environment.
