Job Summary

The University of New Mexico Department of Communication and Journalism is seeking qualified adjunct faculty members to teach undergraduate level classes in various subjects. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering course content, developing and grading assignments, reporting grades, and assessing student learning outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate level classes in various subjects, including public speaking, media writing, interpersonal communication, and more.
  • Develop and implement course curriculum, including lesson plans and assessments.
  • Grade student assignments and provide feedback.
  • Report grades and assess student learning outcomes.
  • Meet with students during assigned times and be available for office hours.
Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet one of the following qualifications:

  • Hold a master's degree or higher in the discipline or subfield for which they are applying.
  • Hold a master's degree or higher in a related discipline and have completed 18 graduate credit hours in an accredited program in the discipline or subfield for which they are applying.
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in the discipline or subfield for which they are applying and have documented satisfactory performance of working for 3-4 years as a professional in the discipline or subfield.
Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An earned doctorate from an accredited institution.
  • Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success.
