Job Title: HHS Supervisor

Join the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community as a HHS Supervisor and play a vital role in the Behavioral Health Services department. As a HHS Supervisor, you will oversee the daily performance of Behavioral Health Technicians, ensuring the highest level of care for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide full administrative supervision and oversee the daily performance of all Behavioral Health Technicians.
  • Maintain assigned JTR oversite by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing operational and personnel policies/procedures.
  • Participate in problem-solving and troubleshooting activities involving the BHT's and other intradepartmental and interdepartmental staff.
  • Review goals and objectives for evaluation and training. Evaluate performance of assigned department staff, assigns training and conducts timely performance evaluations.
  • Works with the Practice Administrator to review and approve time off while ensuring adequate coverage of all shifts
  • Interviews, screens and evaluates clients according to the established Intake process.
  • Observes clients for possible injuries, illnesses, or ongoing medical needs. Refers clients to a medical clinic for emergency care or regular medical treatment when necessary.
  • Oversees client medication dosage and medicine recording including:
    • Counts and records the number of pills in each bottle on the Medication Inventory Form, brought into the facility during the client's stay.
    • Keeps all medications safely locked in the medication cabinet and maintaining a weekly count of all medication by recording on the Medication Monitoring Sheet.
    • Medication distribution to the client from pharmacy/medical records and documents the date, time and number of each pill given on the Medication Administration Record.
  • Consults with the Practice Administrator and Registered Nurse on any issues or observations of possible reactions of medication.
  • Provides liaison services between programs and treatment centers including referral agencies:
    • Drives van and transports clients to Alcohol Education, Behavioral Health appointments and/or AA/NA meetings.
    • Assists clients in obtaining medical, psychiatric or housing placement.
  • Provides supportive listening and guidance to clients with chemical dependency problems during their stay or over the telephone.
  • Provides basic group support to clients with chemical dependency problems during their stay.
  • Attends ongoing training and participates in prevention and intervention community awareness events.
  • Assists in the training of new and current staff (full-time and temporary staff) on the JTR program procedures.
  • Performs all required administrative tasks associated with the Intake and service provision process:
    • Types correspondence and makes photocopies as needed.
    • Scan documents in the electronic health record.
    • Completes all intake forms and facility documents as required.
    • Helps assess the need for facility supplies and completes requisitions for food/non-food items.
    • Helps maintain inventory and shops for supplies when necessary.
    • Maintains upkeep of the JTR facility as required by program regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, sweeping and mopping the floors plus changing sheets on the facility beds, etc.
  • Monitors BHT staff on shift and completes assigned tasks specific to the supervisor role.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned by the Practice Administrator, or the Chief Behavioral Health Officer to maintain and enhance program operation.
Requirements:
  • One (1) year work experience that includes lead or supervisor responsibilities required.
  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and minimum requirement of four years of relevant experience in an emergency medical or behavioral health setting, OR an Associate's degree and two years of relevant experience in an emergency medical or behavioral health setting; OR a bachelor's degree (related or non-related) in the behavioral health field plus one year of relevant experience in a behavioral health setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to behavioral health totaling four years is acceptable.
  • Knowledge of behavioral management, de-escalation methods, crisis intervention, and defusing techniques to prevent violent behavior harmful to self or others and the ability to apply these techniques to a client population in various levels of crisis.
  • Academic & working knowledge of DSM IV, community resources, clinical methods and procedures and application of the same. Residential experience, knowledge of psychotropic medications.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to perform duties with a minimum of supervision.
