Salary: Up to $55,000 - Includes a $1000 Sign-on Bonus

Position Overview:
The Special Education Academic Coordinator plays a vital role in collaborating with the Education Team to ensure the safety and well-being of students engaged in the educational program. This position is integral to the academic and therapeutic team, responsible for delivering education and overseeing students during school hours. A valid New Hampshire Teacher License is required for application.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver specialized instruction, collaborate with colleagues, and assess the progress of assigned special education students (IEP) in accordance with the school curriculum.
  • Implement specialized instructional strategies, whether individually or through team teaching, as needed for students identified for special education or related services (504, educational support team).
  • Monitor and direct behavioral interventions within the classroom as necessary.
  • Provide recommendations for instructional strategies to regular classroom teachers to support the educational advancement of all students.
  • Facilitate specialized accommodations for standardized testing or alternative assessments required by students' IEPs.
  • Complete case management documentation related to IEP and evaluation processes as defined by the Special Education Administrator.
  • Assist the Special Education Administrator in procuring supplies for specialized instruction and assessment needs.
  • Maintain and submit necessary documentation, including lesson plans, progress reports, grading, IEP evaluations, and ITP progress forms.
  • Engage in ongoing curriculum development, professional growth, evaluation, and assessment as requested.
  • Participate in mandated and assigned professional training opportunities.
  • Supervise 1:1 aides and teaching assistants in collaboration with the Dean of Students.
  • Assist in planning and supervising school field trips.
  • Participate in treatment team, systems, and faculty meetings as required.
  • Uphold student confidentiality and communicate pertinent information to supervisors.
  • Understand the administrative structure, chain of command, and program philosophy of Mount Prospect Academy.
  • Represent Mount Prospect Academy positively to the community, students' families, and external agencies.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree with a professional educator's certification and an endorsement in Special Education for the appropriate grade level.
  • Preferred: Two or more years of experience in special education instruction, particularly at the middle and high school levels.
  • Experience working with students with educational disabilities.
  • Possession of a New Hampshire Teacher License.
