Job Description

Coffee Regional Medical Center is seeking a skilled Healthcare Specialist to join our team. As a Healthcare Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing mental wellness and alternative pain management to trauma patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the risk of substance misuse using the Opioid Risk Tool and communicate with the patients assigned medical team when there is an increased risk
  • Provide a number of behavioral pain management strategies including, but not limited to: the skills of the Community Resiliency Model, Progressive Muscle Relaxation, and diaphragmatic breathing
  • Assess the risk of substance misuse using the Opioid Risk Tool and communicate with the patients assigned medical team when there is an increased risk
  • Provide patients with additional mental health resources and referrals
  • Go to all patient follow-ups and provide additional resources when needed

Requirements:

  • Medical Assistant certification required
  • Interested in health and wellness (such as psychology, mental health, community health, social work or public health)
  • Experience in healthcare, patient-Servicing setting is a plus

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR) platforms, Athena/Allscripts is a plus
  • Knowledge or coursework related to opioids and addiction
  • Existing credentials such as Licensed Practical Nurse, Child Life Specialist, Case Manager, Pharmacy Technician, Social Worker, Behavioral/Mental Health Technician
