Position Overview:

The Cybersecurity Specialist is responsible for ensuring comprehensive evaluation of systems and equipment against potential threats and vulnerabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts thorough cybersecurity assessments to pinpoint security deficiencies within Information Technology frameworks, leading to actionable recommendations for risk mitigation.
  • Analyzes network resources, identifying and evaluating anomalies in traffic patterns or design.
  • Offers expert technical guidance regarding the adequacy and appropriateness of testing protocols.
  • Formulates mission attack strategies leveraging advanced knowledge of Cloud cyber defense and vulnerability assessment tools, including open-source solutions.
  • Evaluates risk levels and proposes suitable mitigation strategies.
Employment Conditions:

Applicants must be U.S. Citizens. Males born after a certain date must be registered or exempt from Selective Service. This position may require access to classified information and necessitates a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Maintaining security eligibility is crucial to prevent termination.

This role is subject to drug testing protocols and requires a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, candidates must demonstrate:

  • Attention to Detail: Experience in reviewing IT-related work to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Customer Service: Proven ability to maintain relationships with clients and assess their IT needs.
  • Oral Communication: Experience in briefing management and IT personnel on system statuses and technical information.
  • Problem Solving: Capability to identify solutions for complex IT issues through comprehensive information gathering.

Experience Requirements: Candidates must possess at least one year of relevant experience that aligns with the responsibilities of this role, including performing threat assessments in Cloud environments and documenting risks.

Additional Information:

This term appointment may be extended up to five years and could be eligible for conversion to a permanent position without further competition. Salary includes a Targeted Local Market Supplement (TLMS) in accordance with applicable regulations.

Telework availability will depend on mission requirements and supervisory decisions. Candidates selected for drug testing designated positions will undergo urinalysis prior to appointment.

This position is governed by Cyber Workforce requirements as outlined by the Department of Defense.
