Position Overview

Under the general guidance of the Engineering Manager, you will engage in a range of skilled and unskilled tasks associated with the operation and upkeep of the facility's mechanical and electrical systems, alongside general operational duties.

About the Venue

The Bank of Oklahoma Center, also referred to as the BOK Center, is situated in a vibrant downtown area and is recognized as the leading sports and entertainment venue in the region. With a capacity of 19,199 seats and a total area of 565,000 square feet, it is designed to host concerts, family shows, and various special events, earning accolades as one of the finest venues in the country.

The Cox Business Convention Center (CBCC), located in the Arena District, is a modern and award-winning facility that offers over 275,000 square feet of adaptable meeting space. Owned by the City of Tulsa for over five decades, the CBCC has hosted a diverse array of events and proudly serves both local citizens and international guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, monitor, repair, and maintain the facility's audio-visual, environmental control, emergency power, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and lighting systems to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, fixtures, and piping equipment.
  • Repair and rebuild various equipment including motors, compressors, and ice machines.
  • Adhere to the preventive maintenance program, energy management initiatives, and standard operating procedures for all machinery and equipment.
  • Conduct repairs and maintenance tasks such as painting, wall repairs, patching, re-lamping, and replacing ceiling tiles, filters, and belts as necessary.
  • Document and log all work performed, complete work order slips, and compile required reports in a timely manner.
  • Assist other divisions within the Operations Department to facilitate event conversions as needed.
  • Promote a safe working environment by following life safety and emergency protocols.
  • Interpret performance charts and control panels to assess system efficiency.
  • Occasionally enter areas where fumes, airborne particles, and hazardous chemicals may be present.
  • Respond to routine, precautionary, and emergency alarms from building automation and life safety systems.
  • Work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Possess a solid understanding of the methods, principles, and practices necessary for the operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with operational procedures, facility capabilities, industry terminology, and technical requirements for anticipated events.
  • Knowledge of repair techniques in plumbing, electrical wiring, and ventilation systems.
  • Basic understanding of door hardware, locks, key machines, and door closers.
  • Hold any licenses, certificates, or training required by local, state, or national authorities for operating facility equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, and related materials.
  • Adhere to all safety precautions, building codes, regulations, and emergency procedures.
  • Meet the physical demands of the role, including mobility around the facility, lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, climbing, and working in moderate to loud noise environments.
  • Operate equipment such as light trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and scrubbing machines.
  • Utilize monitoring controls and personal computers (light use) with Windows and Microsoft Office software.
  • Use standard office equipment including copiers and fax machines.
  • Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively in both forms.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Work effectively under pressure and maintain accuracy in results.
  • Work independently, exercising sound judgment and initiative.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered during employment.
  • Possess a valid motor vehicle license and insurance in the United States.
  • Remain adaptable and responsive to changing situations.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. with three (3) years of full-time experience in a facility; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must hold Class II EPA Certification.
  • Completion of technical support school or advanced electrical or refrigeration courses is preferred.
  • Preferred Stationary Licensing from relevant authorities.
