Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans based on ongoing assessments and input from patients and families.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to promote effective patient care and outcomes.
- Verify and implement orders from healthcare providers, performing interventions as prescribed and documenting accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Engage patients and families in education and support, promoting health literacy and self-management.
- Recognize and respond to patient needs, prioritizing care and providing emotional support.
- Delegate tasks to support personnel, providing feedback and guidance as needed.
- Advocate for patients, families, and the nursing profession, promoting excellence in patient care.
- Assume charge nurse responsibilities, utilizing resources and tools to ensure effective patient care.
- Collaborate with colleagues to identify and promote learning opportunities, supporting staff development and growth.
- Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
- Current AHA BLS/CPR and other required unit-specific certifications.
- Effective communication skills, facilitating therapeutic relationships between patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Intermediate computer skills, with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training.
- Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history.
- Two to three years of medical-surgical nursing experience, with one year of oncology experience preferred.
- Current ONS certification or completion of the ONS/ONCC chemotherapy biotherapy certificate course within a year.
