The Nurse Manager is accountable for overseeing the nursing staff within the designated patient care unit, ensuring that safe and effective nursing care is consistently delivered. This role involves managing the department's financial resources, including personnel, supplies, and equipment, while promoting a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities- Exemplifies excellence in nursing practice through comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Prioritizes patient, physician, and staff satisfaction, addressing concerns promptly and ensuring follow-up.
- Collaborates with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to establish unit goals and objectives, evaluating progress towards these goals.
- Maintains accountability for the quality of nursing care delivered on the unit.
- Engages in Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives, revising nursing standards as necessary in partnership with the Director.
- Monitors the performance of nursing personnel, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Facilitates effective communication between staff and physicians, addressing any potential conflicts proactively.
- Assesses patient care delivery, identifying areas for improvement based on age-specific needs.
- Serves as a clinical resource for staff, overseeing orientation and professional development.
- Ensures compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
- Conducts monthly unit meetings and safety inspections to maintain high standards of care.
- Available to assist with staffing needs and participates in on-call rotations.
Required Education and Experience:
- Associate degree in nursing from an accredited institution; BSN required within three years of employment. Minimum of three years of clinical and/or management experience in an acute care environment.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas; BLS certification.
- Effective communication and critical thinking skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic computer proficiency, particularly with Windows-based software.
