Job Summary:

The Laundry Aide position is responsible for assisting in the delivery of laundry services. This role may involve washing, drying, folding, ironing, mending, and distributing or delivering linen or patients' clothing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Load machines to proper weight/level, set proper cycle, and hook-up or dispense proper detergents, chemicals, etc.
  • Sort laundry by color, fabric, type, etc., and prepare for washing by pre-soaking as appropriate.
  • Transfer laundered items to dryers, fold and stack dried items in proper order, and iron those items that require it.
  • Mend items that require it, use proper equipment, and distribute personal laundry to patients' closets.
  • Clean and disinfect floors, appliances, folding tables, delivery carts, and other laundry areas, ensuring sanitation and quality standards are met.
  • Ensure proper storage of supplies, identify and correct safety hazards, and clean vents inside dryers after each load and outside of the building daily or as needed.
  • Ensure proper equipment is available and in good repair, and function as a Team Leader/Role Model.
  • Review Cantex Continuing Care Networks Clinical Policies and Procedures for Abuse Prevention and enforce it, attend weekly in-services, and understand and comply with Patient Care Management Systems.
  • Responsible for assuring patient/resident safety and perform other essential functions as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Experience in a long-term care or healthcare laundry department is preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
