POSITION OVERVIEW:
As a Patient Care Assistant in the Medical Surgical Unit, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional care to our patients. This part-time position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your contributions will make a significant impact on patient outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work Schedule:
Part-time, 30 FTE, with shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, rotating every other Friday or Saturday. Flexibility in hours may be required based on departmental needs.
Compensation:
- UW Health provides a competitive salary and benefits package, with consideration for relevant work experience when determining starting pay.
- This role includes additional pay for weekend and night shifts.
- Eligible candidates may receive a sign-on bonus of $900 (pro-rated based on FTE).
ROLE EXPECTATIONS:
As a Patient Care Assistant, you will:
- Collaborate closely with Registered Nurses to provide comprehensive care to both medical and surgical patients.
- Deliver direct physical care and assist with basic nursing tasks in alignment with hospital protocols.
- Support patients with daily living activities, mobility assistance, and conduct intentional rounding.
- Engage with patients and their families to foster trust and enhance the quality of care provided.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Minimum requirement: High school diploma or equivalent, and completion of a State of Wisconsin Approved Nursing Assistant program.
Experience:
Preferred: At least one year of recent experience as a Nursing Assistant in surgical services.
Licenses and Certifications:
Minimum requirement: Must be listed on the Wisconsin Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aid Registry; CPR certification is required within three months of hire.
