Position Overview:

Under the guidance of the manager and lead caregiver, this role is responsible for creating a nurturing environment that aligns with the Resources for Infant Educating (RIE) philosophy and adheres to NAEYC developmentally appropriate practices. Key responsibilities include: addressing the daily needs of children, implementing necessary routines, utilizing age-appropriate curriculum and management strategies, engaging in daily discussions with parents about their child's progress, demonstrating positive behavior for colleagues, and offering training sessions for both coworkers and parents.

Role Expectations:

This position faces several challenges, including: providing care that follows RIE principles and promotes learning through play; adapting to the unique needs of individual children and their families; maintaining effective communication with parents regarding their child's care; managing fluctuating classroom ratios; and collaborating with coworkers who possess diverse talents and teaching methods within the program's framework.

The incumbent has the authority to engage with parents daily concerning their child's well-being, nutrition, and overall health. With the approval of the manager and lead caregiver, this role can address specific behavioral or developmental concerns with parents. Additionally, this position can instruct or delegate tasks to coworkers within their assigned classroom. Other related duties may be required.

Qualifications:

Education:

A solid understanding of the English language is essential, including proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking. The candidate must complete 15 hours of child care training annually, with at least 12 hours focused on child development required upon hire.

Preference will be given to applicants holding an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.

Experience:

A minimum of one year of verifiable experience in a teaching or caregiving role for children under five years of age is required.

Licenses and Certifications:

Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a current Sheriff's Card for Child Care. CPR and First Aid certifications must be acquired within three months of employment. Attendance at a Child Abuse and Neglect Workshop, as well as an Infectious Disease Workshop, is also required within the first three months. A TB skin test or chest X-ray may be necessary as per health regulations.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in computer skills is required, or the ability to acquire necessary skills within 90 days to complete online training and access essential resources.
