Position Overview:

Under the guidance of the supervisor and the lead caregiver, collaboratively fosters a nurturing environment that adheres to the Resources for Infant Educating (RIE) philosophy and NAEYC developmentally appropriate practices. The primary responsibilities encompass: addressing the daily needs of children, ensuring appropriate routines are maintained; implementing age-appropriate curriculum and management strategies; engaging in daily discussions and meetings with parents regarding their child's progress; demonstrating exemplary behavior for and assisting colleagues; and providing training sessions for coworkers and parents.

Key Responsibilities:

This role presents several challenges, including: caring for children in alignment with RIE and play-based learning philosophies; demonstrating adaptability to cater to the unique needs of individual children and their families; maintaining diplomatic communication with parents concerning their child's care; being aware of fluctuating classroom ratios; and embracing the diverse talents and teaching methodologies of coworkers within the program's philosophy.

This position is authorized to engage with parents daily regarding their child's well-being, nutrition, and overall health. With the approval of the supervisor and lead caregiver, this role can also discuss specific behavioral or developmental concerns with parents. Additionally, this position may instruct or delegate tasks to coworkers within their designated classroom. Other related duties and overtime may be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Proficiency in the English language, encompassing reading, writing, and speaking, is essential. The ability to obtain 15 hours of child care training annually, including a minimum of 12 hours in child development upon hire, is required as per regulatory standards.

Candidates with an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential are preferred.

Experience:

A minimum of one year of verifiable experience as a teacher or caregiver in a program focused on the care of children under the age of 5 is required.

Licenses:

Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a current Sheriff's Card for Child Care by the start of employment.

Certifications:

CPR and First Aid certifications must be obtained within three months of hire. Attendance at a Child Abuse and Neglect Workshop, as well as an Infectious Disease Workshop, is required within three months of hire. A TB skin test or chest X-ray may also be required.

Computer Skills:

Candidates must possess, or be able to acquire within 90 days, the necessary computer skills to complete online training requirements, access online forms and policies, and manage online benefits enrollment.
