Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Certified Nurse Aide to join our team at Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital. As a member of our cardiac care team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to our hospital's mission of delivering better outcomes for our employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Report to the Charge Nurse upon arrival and receive instructions for patient care.
  • Obtain vital signs and report any abnormalities to the primary care nurse and Charge Nurse, documenting in the patient's electronic medical record.
  • Monitor patients' intake and output, documenting totals in the patient's electronic medical record.
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks as necessary, including unit equipment, refrigerators, and unit area.
  • Monitor equipment usage and loss, and ensure refrigerator/freezer temperatures are within acceptable ranges.
  • Inventory and remove expired products as directed by the Director.
  • Assist with setting up rooms for admissions, discharging patients, and notifying Monitor Tech of telemetry box numbers.
  • Pass water/ice pitchers to patients who can have water, monitoring use and checking with primary care nurses regarding patient diets.
  • Greet patients, gather information, and demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Answer call lights and assist with meeting patient needs or deferring to a TPC Nurse.
  • Assist with obtaining items/supplies for the unit and patients.
  • Assist patients with eating, dressing, bathing, ambulation, and transportation.
  • Assist with daily care of patients and turning patients who are total care.
  • Monitor patients for changes in mental alertness, emotions, or physical ability, notifying the Charge Nurse or TPC Nurse of these changes.
  • Assist with sheath removals after completing competencies.
  • Assist with procedural preps as instructed by the TPC Nurse.
  • Complete other duties as assigned, including stocking medication rooms, carts, and supply areas.
  • Assist with non-invasive procedures under the supervision and direction of the TPC Nurse, Charge Nurse, or Director.
  • Assist with blood glucose monitoring after completing competencies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant certification required.
  • 0-2 years' experience as a nurse's assistant in a healthcare setting.
  • Current BLS certification.
