POSITION OVERVIEW
The Electrical Line Technician is tasked with the installation and upkeep of cables and wires that deliver electrical power throughout the mining operation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Participates in daily meetings to receive work assignments and updates.
- Conducts pre-operation inspections and drives a utility vehicle to the assigned work site.
- Leads a safety briefing to outline work objectives and identify potential hazards.
- Utilizes heavy machinery to excavate and erect electrical poles.
- Operates aerial lift equipment to facilitate wire installation and manually pulls wire into place using mechanical assistance.
- Adjusts and secures poles, crossarms, insulators, and related apparatus.
- Troubleshoots and repairs faulty power cables and associated equipment.
- Measures electrical voltage with specialized testing devices.
- Monitors ground voltage levels for safety compliance.
- Completes necessary documentation upon finishing work tasks.
- Climbs utility poles using appropriate safety gear.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must exhibit a strong commitment to health and safety protocols.
- Must adhere to environmental regulations and compliance standards.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
- Proficient in addressing routine inquiries and challenges related to equipment and procedures.
- Capable of interpreting safety guidelines and operational manuals.
- Must possess strong multitasking abilities and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with MSHA regulations and enforcement is preferred.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a lineman role.
- MSHA certification is advantageous.
