Job Overview

SUMMARY

The Field Service Specialist is tasked with executing field operations related to the installation and maintenance of FlexSteel products. This role also involves supporting the development of field procedures, equipment, and logistical strategies to ensure projects are completed efficiently and cost-effectively.

  • Foster positive communication with clients, supervisors, and team members.
  • Conduct field service activities to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Take full ownership of product installation, service, and maintenance tasks, including jobsite assessments, product setup, repairs, inventory management, supply tracking, shipment preparation, and accurate reporting.
  • Document and provide a detailed account of field service activities relevant to the project.
  • Ensure all field operations adhere to safety protocols and company policies.
  • Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations, emphasizing the proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Contribute to the design and development of facilities and field equipment tailored to meet customer needs safely and economically.
  • Assist in creating field service processes and documentation to promote consistency and effective communication of best practices.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues in the field, offering solutions as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in manufacturing or construction, with an average of 3+ years preferred.
  • Licensure and/or experience in operating forklifts and other general construction equipment as needed.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment, collaborating with engineers, project managers, contractors, and support staff.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of presenting information effectively to groups.
  • Self-motivated individual with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals; capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Experience in providing training to various levels within a construction environment.
  • Proficient in maintaining small equipment, including hydraulics and generators.
  • Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations and interpret data.

  • Ability to travel for both short and long assignments by vehicle or air for extended periods is essential.
  • Active participation in field installation activities constitutes 90% of this role.
  • Frequent standing, sitting, using hands to handle materials, and effective communication are required.
  • Occasional walking, reaching, climbing, and stooping may be necessary.
  • Frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds is required.
