Job Title: Learning Guide

At Hope Christian Schools, we are seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Guide to join our team. As a Learning Guide, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic success and character development of our scholars.

Job Summary

The Learning Guide will work closely with teachers and scholars to create a positive, achievement-oriented, and structured learning environment. This role requires a flexible and proactive individual who can provide coverage for short and/or long-term vacancies of teachers and teaching assistants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support a Positive Learning Environment: Establish a positive, achievement-oriented, and structured learning environment where all scholars are invested in their academic excellence and character growth.
  • Lead Lesson Preparation: Lead lesson preparation and internalization, including making copies, gathering materials, and passing out supplies.
  • Partner with Teachers: Partner with teachers and/or prepared educational resources to achieve the highest outcomes for students and actively engage in the planning process.
  • Provide Coverage: Flexible to provide coverage for short and/or long-term vacancies of teachers and teaching assistants.
  • Classroom Management: Apply classroom management techniques to invest scholars in their learning and utilize appropriate scholar corrections and disciplinary actions.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and complete records, including but not limited to attendance, behavior, and student achievement data.
  • Accountability: Set and hold scholars accountable to extremely high academic and school-wide behavioral standards.
  • Virtual and In-Person Lessons: Facilitate virtual or in-person lessons, assessments, and our Christian Character Formation lessons.
  • One-on-One Tutoring: Support students through one-on-one tutoring or small group instruction, implementing remediation or acceleration with guidance from the teaching team.
  • Technology Support: Support students on educational technology, including helping with login and computer usage, troubleshooting, reinforcing procedures, answering questions, and monitoring student activity.
  • Monitoring: Monitor students during lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other key transitions throughout the day.
  • Gap Identification: Aggressively monitor student work during independent work time to identify gaps in understanding.
  • Rapport Building: Build rapport and meaningful relationships with scholars, parents, and families.
  • Professional Development: Continually improve teaching skills by receiving coaching and seeking out professional development opportunities.
  • Training and Development: Receive advanced training on bridge resources, educational tools, classroom, and instructional methods.
  • Code of Conduct: Agree to comply with and advance our Code of Conduct and Statement of Faith.
  • Faith Life: Agree to engage in the faith life of our scholars and in collaboration with other team members.
Competencies
  • Serving Leader: Provide vigilant supervision for the physical safety and well-being of scholars while on campus or off-campus for school functions.
  • Collaborative Relationships: Build rapport and meaningful relationships with scholars, parents, and families.
  • Resource Management: Maintain accurate and complete records, including but not limited to attendance, behavior, student achievement data, grades, progress reports, parent communication, textbooks, etc.
  • Forming Character: Apply classroom management techniques and appropriate scholar corrections and disciplinary actions.
  • Academic Excellence: Establish a positive, achievement-oriented, and structured learning environment where all scholars are invested in their academic excellence and character growth.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School diploma required, having or working toward a Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience: Experience working with youth and families in low-income urban communities.
  • Technology: Proficient with technology.
