Pathologist Assistant Supervisor

The Virginia Commonwealth University Health System is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pathologist Assistant Supervisor to join our team in the Department of Pathology.

This is a leadership role that requires a strong background in surgical pathology and autopsy pathology, with a minimum of 4 years of experience as a Pathologists' Assistant.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the grossing area, autopsy suite, and pathology operations in the morgue, as well as providing technical instruction to lab personnel and residents.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising gross room, morgue, and autopsy personnel
  • Managing day-to-day workflow, schedules, and equipment
  • Communicating with Manager/Director on a routine basis
  • Conducting performance evaluations for PA and other technical staff
  • QC/QA reports and follow-up as indicated

The ideal candidate will have a Master's Degree in Science from an accredited Pathologists' Assistant Program and be certified as a Pathologists' Assistant by the American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or certification eligible within 3 months from date of hire.

Additionally, the successful candidate will have experience in histology, histology procedures, and dissection, as well as experience working in an academic setting.
