Department Insights:
The working hours for this position are from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM, with a rotation every other weekend and holiday. An 8-hour shift is also an option. Position Summary:
The Nursing Assistant (NA) acts as a caregiver to residents during scheduled shifts in long-term care settings. This role involves providing resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).

Knowledge of and delivery of age-appropriate care in accordance with the resident's physical and psychological needs as outlined in their care plan is essential.

As a vital member of the nursing team, the NA is expected to adhere to infection prevention and control policies and the use of Personal Protective Equipment.

The NA assists with essential health care needs, including daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support.

Additionally, the NA aids residents in transferring, repositioning, and ambulating using proper techniques and equipment, and provides range of motion and passive exercises.

Responsibilities also include assisting with food preparation and dining, ensuring a positive dining experience for residents, and providing necessary hydration and nutritional supplements.


Collaboration and Documentation:
The NA supports nursing staff with procedures as needed, documents resident interactions and care outcomes, and communicates any changes in the resident's condition to the charge nurse. Responsibilities also include collecting non-invasive body fluid specimens and vital signs, as well as providing housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean living areas. The NA may also assist with wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation, and may engage in departmental committees as required.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred, but not mandatory.
- Minimum age of 16 years. Previous clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care is preferred.


- Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state-certified CNA within four months of employment by enrolling in a training program or obtaining certification through endorsement.

CNA training and certification will be provided by the facility.


Continuing Education:
Completion of yearly department-specific competency testing and maintenance of continuing education credits is required, with a minimum of 12 hours annually. All department-specific certifications must be maintained.

Driving Requirements:
Depending on facility needs, this role may classify as a Sanford Category II Driver, necessitating a motor vehicle report and proof of a valid driver's license. Medical qualifications to perform essential driving functions may also be required.
