About the Role

HonorHealth is seeking a highly skilled Research Pharmacist to join our team in the Cancer Care Research Pavilion. As a key member of our research team, you will play a critical role in coordinating and implementing the preparation, compounding, and dispensing of investigational drugs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and implement investigational drug study protocols, including pharmacy study set up and close out, and staff education.
  • Contribute to the body of knowledge in pharmacy practice through research, poster presentations, and journal articles.
  • Review proposed investigational drug protocols for scientific merit, appropriateness of research to be conducted, content of consent forms, and safety issues.
  • Serve as a resource and collaborate with investigators, research personnel, and sponsors on proposed research protocols.
  • Evaluate and assess the impact of investigational studies on pharmacy operations by determining storage, preparation, monitoring, and budget requirements.
  • Coordinate the procurement, receipt, and accountability of investigational drugs.
  • Participate in sponsor site initiation visits and study monitor visits.
  • Accurately maintain investigational drug study records and documentation as required by the study sponsor and accrediting bodies.
  • Review study-related adverse events, protocol updates, and progress reports.
  • Provide professional and patient consultations per pharmacy guidelines and in a timely manner.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based medication guidelines/protocols.
  • Design and implement medication monitoring guidelines and programs for staff.
  • Act as a liaison to the nursing units to communicate pertinent information and facilitate communication and increase cooperation.
  • Attend and actively participate in patient care team meetings by problem-solving and getting involved in the planning process.
  • Serve as a representative at the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
  • Assist in the coordination of departmental performance improvement and quality assurance activities, including medication use evaluation, medication error review, adverse drug reaction review, and pharmacy intervention reporting.
  • Develop the pharmacy skills of pharmacy staff members by teaching and exemplifying those skills to the team members.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a minimum of Doctor of Pharmacy degree or equivalent experience.
  • One (1) year hospital pharmacy residency or 3 years of clinical pharmacy experience in a hospital setting.
  • Pharmacy/RPH - Registered Pharmacist Required.
