We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team, responsible for designing and developing Procept BioRobotics products and components in compliance with applicable quality system procedures and regulations.

Job Description:

This position will involve participating in the design of robotic platforms and accessories, contributing to the development of robust mechanical and robotic assemblies, and providing design, integration, and test solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Robotic Platforms and Accessories: Participate in the design of handpiece designs, console designs, instrument manipulators, and instrument interfaces.
  • Develop Mechanical and Robotic Assemblies: Contribute to the design and development of robust mechanical and robotic assemblies for medical devices that will be scaled to large volumes.
  • Provide Design Solutions: Offer design, integration, and test solutions in a fast-paced environment with a quick development cycle.
  • Interface with Vendors: Interface with vendors for component sourcing and fabrication.
  • Interface with Customers: Interface with customers for product feedback and input.
  • Develop Manufacturing Fixtures and Instrumentation: Develop manufacturing fixtures and instrumentation.
  • Develop Assembly and Test Procedures: Develop assembly and test procedures.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Departments: Work closely with cross-functional departments to develop robust, scalable assembly processes that are cost-efficient and ready for high-volume production.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering, Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the Medical Device industry.
  • Proficiency using CAD to design and document mechanisms: SolidWorks.

Preferred Qualifications:

We would like applicants who have:

  • Experience with early phase development and collecting user inputs from Surgeons/Users.
  • Product-minded individual with the ability to combine complex optical and electro-mechanical systems into a product that meets or exceeds patient and physician needs.
  • Knowledge of motion control, position sensing, feedback algorithms, motors, encoders, and linear actuators.
  • Knowledge of component manufacturing processes (including machining, sheet metal, rapid prototyping, injection molding, casting, MiM, weldments, etc.).
  • Familiarity with mechanical design and analysis skills, including statics, dynamics, kinematics, strength of materials, and stress analysis.
  • Proven understanding of component selection criteria, and design for reliability and volume manufacturability.
  • Experience with designing products in an FDA or other regulated industry; comfortable with concepts of design input, design output, traceability, and risk analysis.
  • Familiarity with IEC-60601-1 requirements is a plus.
  • Comfortable with all phases of the product development lifecycle including design, implementation, debug, verification, qualification, and transfer to Manufacturing.

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000-$151,000 per year, plus eligibility for an annual bonus and equity/RSUs.
