Job Summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our Geriatrics Team in Temple, Texas. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and collaborating with referring physicians, agencies, and other professionals to deliver exceptional outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' physical and mental conditions through comprehensive physical examinations and medical histories.
  • Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and healthcare needs.
  • Prescribe, recommend, and employ medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatments and procedures, adhering to approved protocols and policies.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive outcomes-based patient treatment plans, taking into account patient assessments, evidence-based medicine, and professional practice guidelines.
  • Counsel patients and families regarding medical processes, health management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
  • Maintain accurate records detailing patient treatment plans and outcomes, initiating timely consultation and referral when necessary.
  • Provide consultation-level services for conditions related to your specialty and training.
  • Manage patients in various healthcare settings, including inpatient, emergency services, and procedural settings.
  • Perform invasive procedures specific to your scope of practice and competency, as delegated by your supervising physician.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
  • Understanding of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement comprehensive patient treatment plans.
  • Ability to counsel patients concerning medical and psychological/psychiatric conditions, treatment plans, and behavior modification.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Texas RN licensure or RN licensure with compact privilege from a state that is party to the Nurse Licensure Compact for RNs and LVNs & Texas APRN.
  • Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Texas.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Certification from an accredited board as an APRN for the patient population of focus.
