Job Title: Planning Engineer

At the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), we are seeking a highly skilled Planning Engineer to join our Regional Planning group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing engineering analysis and technical support to ensure the reliable operation of the electric power grid in compliance with NERC Standards, ERCOT Protocols, and Market Guides.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct electrical engineering analysis and provide technical support for the planning and operation of the electric power system.
  • Implement system modeling, develop tools and procedures to monitor and control the system, perform system studies, analyze simulated or actual operating results, and develop solutions to current or future system issues.
  • Report findings and recommendations to management and stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a power system engineer or similar role.
  • Experience with power system simulation tools, such as Powerworld.
  • Programming skills in Python.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PE Professional Engineer certification.
  • Experience with UPLAN and NERC reliability standards.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Work Environment:

The Planning Engineer will be based in Taylor, TX, and will be required to work on-site at least 2 days per week. Remote work will be allowed from a Texas residence. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of power system engineering principles and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

This is a hybrid position, and the salary will be based on overall experience as determined by ERCOT. The expected salary range is $82,344 - $131,720.
