Position Summary
AECOM is looking for a Mid-Level Transportation Design Engineer to work remotely, with a focus on projects aligned with the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to significant segments of larger engineering projects under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Collect and analyze fundamental engineering data using established methodologies.
- Engage in routine engineering tasks that involve calculations and straightforward testing.
- Develop solutions for new challenges by adapting standard procedures from prior projects.
- Identify and address inconsistencies in project outcomes.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers.
- Execute tasks in line with established budgets and timelines with minimal oversight.
- Independently manage essential design components for engineering initiatives.
- Demonstrate professional growth through relevant experience in the field.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 4 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
- Over 5 years of design experience in transportation projects, including schematic development and preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E).
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
- Experience in designing highway and roadway systems.
- Proficiency in design software such as MicroStation, GEOPAK, and/or OpenRoads.
- Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Compensation and Benefits
AECOM offers a competitive compensation package that reflects the individual's qualifications and location. The expected salary range is between $90,000 and $145,000.
