Korean Language and Culture Instructor

We are seeking a qualified individual to fill a part-time lecturer position in Korean language and culture at the University of Hawai'i, Kapi'olani Community College.
About the Position- Teach courses in Korean language and culture, including language instruction and cultural studies.
- Develop and implement course syllabi, assessments, and reports related to teaching and student progress.
- Assess student learning in terms of course competencies and program learning outcomes.
- Submit self-assessment reports based on student and peer evaluations.
- Work under the general supervision of the discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area.
- Maintain one office hour per week for each class taught.
- Classes may be offered online, evenings and/or weekends.
- Functionally native oral and written fluency in Korean.
- Ability to communicate in English.
- Master's degree in Korean (language or literature), Korean as a Second Language, the study of the culture or history of the people who speak Korean, or Linguistics, ESL, Education or another language.
- At least 12 credits of advanced coursework in second language methodology, Korean literature, Korean culture, or any combination thereof.
- Teaching experience at the community college level.
- Demonstrated ability to work with community college students.
- Work experience related to the course to be taught.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively.
- Familiarity with competency- and outcomes-based instruction.
