Position Overview

Role Summary: This position offers significant visibility to the CFO, CAO/Worldwide Controller, and Senior Management. Key responsibilities encompass the preparation of SEC filings, alongside conducting technical accounting research and managing special projects. This role necessitates in-office presence four days a week.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation, review, and submission of Forms 10-Q/K, with substantial involvement in 8-K and Proxy statement submissions.
  • Development of financial statements and related financial data for press releases, audit committee communications, and supplemental investor information.
  • Stay informed on current and emerging financial accounting and reporting standards, evaluate their relevance to MicroStrategy, and proactively advise the Controllership.
  • Review, analyze, and document new and complex technical accounting matters as they arise.
  • Support accounting and reporting for share-based compensation, earnings per share, segment reporting, debt and equity transactions, crypto assets, non-GAAP reporting, lease accounting, and ESG, among other topics.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and advisors on critical accounting and reporting issues.
  • Coordinate and partner with various internal departments (Accounting, HR, Legal, FP&A, Marketing, IT) and external entities (auditors, consultants/advisors) to facilitate SEC filings and address technical accounting challenges.
  • Exhibit strong project management skills and accountability to meet deadlines.
  • Ensure adherence to established internal controls for areas of responsibility.
  • Identify opportunities to automate processes, enhance workflows, and implement efficiencies across all areas.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in a Financial Reporting role for a public company.
  • Prior experience with a Big 4 firm is preferred. Active CPA license is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office is essential, with strong Excel skills being a must.
  • Experience with U.S. GAAP and technical accounting research tools.
  • Familiarity with SEC regulations and requirements.
  • Experience with XBRL tagging and SEC filing software.
  • Strong technical accounting writing and research capabilities.
  • Able to work effectively both in a team environment and independently as needed.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Outstanding communication skills to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • High level of integrity and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
