Overview

The Registered Dietitian is tasked with overseeing the nutritional health and education of all patients and residents, adhering to the relevant federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, as well as the established policies and procedures of Catholic Health Service, through referrals from physicians and nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the dietary needs of each patient or resident as necessary, collaborating with the attending physician to develop appropriate diet plans.
  • Ensure that all interdisciplinary documentation is thorough and accurately reflects the services rendered and the patients' or residents' responses.
  • Engage in discharge planning and contribute to the formulation and execution of patient care plans and assessments as required.
  • Involve patients and their families in setting objectives and goals for nutritional care.
  • Design regular and specialized diet menus as directed by the attending physician.
  • Review and verify the accuracy of all documentation prepared.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Communicate relevant information and updates to patients, caregivers, and team members as needed.
  • Contribute to and participate in educational programs, on-the-job training, and orientation for new staff.
  • Foster teamwork through positive interactions with both clinical and support personnel.
  • Collaborate effectively with patient care teams and maintain a positive working relationship with interdisciplinary colleagues.
  • Maintain all necessary licenses, certifications, and required skill updates.
  • Adhere to all policies and comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Fulfill other duties as a member of the healthcare team.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Supervisory Role

  • May assume the role of interim department leader as needed.
