Job Summary

Amergis is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team in Redlands, CA. As an Occupational Therapist with Amergis, you will have the opportunity to work with students in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide skilled occupational therapy services and interventions in accordance with physician orders.
  • Regularly reevaluate students for rehabilitation needs and work collaboratively with the physician and other healthcare team members to modify the plan of care as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with all disciplines to plan and evaluate team goals for each student.
  • Assess students' needs, plan for, evaluate, and modify care to meet goals of occupational therapy interventions.
  • Instruct students, families, and caregivers on the student's total occupational therapy program.
  • Advises, consults, and instructs members of the multi-disciplinary team in specific occupational therapy modalities.
  • Observe and report student progress and/or changes in student status to the physician and appropriate multi-disciplinary team members.
  • Direct OT treatment and develop occupational therapy plans of care.
  • Refer individuals to other disciplines as deemed appropriate and as approved by the physician.
  • Report reactions to treatment and adverse signs and symptoms to the physician, building/district nurse, and parents/caregivers.
  • Teach new skills or retrain students in once-familiar daily activities that have become difficult or unfamiliar due to illness or injury.
  • Establish equipment needs to facilitate independent functioning.
  • Instruct students and family/caregivers in the use of various types of adaptive equipment to improve function; ensure equipment is in good working order.
  • Train students and family/caregivers in the use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices.
  • Provide accurate and timely documentation according to the plan of care.
  • Participate in IEP conferences or other meetings as required to ensure coordination of health services (if applicable).
  • Prepare and submit clinical progress summaries based on the progress of goals.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants according to company policies/procedures and State regulations.
  • Comply with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding professional standards and practice standards.
  • May fabricate splints and instruct individual and/or family/caregiver in the use, application, and benefits.
  • Perform other duties as assigned/necessary.
Requirements
  • Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of practice.
  • One (1) year of prior professional Occupational Therapy experience preferred.
  • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR if applicable.
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
  • Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
