As an Advanced Practitioner in Oncology Care, you will provide primary care to oncology patients in a collaborative joint practice with physicians. Your scope of responsibility will include expert practitioner, educator/teacher, care management, consultant, nurse researcher, and nurse leader.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for individual patients, incorporating evidence-based research into clinical practice.
- Initiate and document appropriate interventions, evaluate and record patient/family response within practice protocol, and prescribe drug therapies per protocol/physician consultation.
- Assist physicians and perform procedures as needed, conduct patient assessments, and provide physician with information prior to seeing the patient.
- Assess patient/family needs and provide education, promoting wellness and recommending community resources to meet patient and family needs.
- Promote/provide staff education, supervise the activities of clinical nursing and support staff, and mentor new Advanced Practitioners.
- Knowledgeable of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements, complete patient charge tickets, and provide case management for oncology clients and their families.
- Serve as a resource person for the nursing staff, providing information being studied in clinical trials.
- Master's Degree in Nursing with a Nurse Practitioner Degree Emphasis or Program Certificate equivalent.
- 1 year of nursing experience.
- NURSE PRACTITIONER - NLNP certification.
- South Carolina Official Recognition Nurse Practitioner, Prescriptive Authority South Carolina Nursing License, and South Carolina Controlled Substance license; Federal DEA license.
- Oncology nursing experience.
- Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiologic and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment.
- Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse.
