About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist II to join our team at Atlantic Health System. As a Surgical Technologist II, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist nursing personnel in providing quality care to patients in the operating room
  • Perform duties and responsibilities of a scrub person under the direction of a registered professional nurse
  • Assist in obtaining supplies, equipment, and opening of operating and other rooms as necessary
  • Break down setup and prepare instruments for sterilization
  • Help transfer patients to the recovery room and clean and restock the operating room
Principal Accountabilities
  1. Check and gather all instruments for each case in assigned room with use of surgeon's preference card
  2. Check sterility tapes, dates, and integrity of wrappers
  3. Open sterile supplies for assigned cases, maintain a sterile field, and take immediate action to correct any breaks in technique
  4. Perform surgical scrub techniques and gown and glove procedures for self and surgical team
  5. Arrange instruments, basins, sutures, and software in a precise manner for accurate count after the completion of surgical procedures
  6. Assist circulating nurses with counts of all sponges, cottonoids, needles, vessels loops, umbilical tape, penrose drains, and other devices and instruments
  7. Use all devices and instruments appropriately and perform the standard draping technique
  8. Pass instruments to surgical team in a safe and efficient manner
  9. Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program
  • 1-2 years of experience as a Scrub Tech in a Hospital Setting
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Surgical Technology or related field
