Graduate Nurse Rotational Program: Med/Surg Track

Are you a Spring/Summer 2025 nursing graduate looking to launch your nursing career? Our Graduate Nurse Rotational Program may be the perfect fit. You will rotate through various units within the hospital to gain valuable and varied experience while working alongside an experienced nurse to help mentor and guide you in your learning.

UPMC Passavant is a leading healthcare provider located in McCandless, PA, about 20 minutes north of Pittsburgh. Our hospital offers a comprehensive range of medical services and a supportive work environment for our nurses.

What is the Graduate Nurse Rotational Program?

Our Graduate Nurse Rotational Program is a 14-week program designed to provide new graduate nurses with a comprehensive learning experience. Participants will rotate through various units, including Inpatient Rehab, 5 Pavilion Orthopedic, and 6 South Surgical Oncology, to gain a broad education in nursing.

What Can You Expect as a GNRP Professional Staff Nurse?

As a Professional Staff Nurse and a member of the care delivery team, you will set the standards for the level and quality of nursing care and possess authority and accountability for its provision. You will work productively and effectively in an environment with changing priorities that require specialized skills.

Placement Post-GNRP

Upon completion of the Graduate Nurse Rotational Program, placements are determined by participant preference, Hiring Manager preference, and business need through a collaborative matching process at Passavant. You will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the My Nursing Career Ladder based on your individual experience and education.

Requirements:

  • Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse required prior to program start date OR must have a Temporary Practice Permit and commit to taking the NCLEX examination within 6 months of hire.
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance
  • Basic Life Support
