Diagnostic Support Associate

The Differential Diagnosis Specialist will be responsible for assisting pathologists in the preparation and performance of gross examination and dissection of surgical pathology specimens. The successful candidate will also ensure proper accessioning and labeling of surgical pathology specimens, obtain pertinent clinical records, and contribute to the preparation of anatomical diagnoses through voice-activated transcription and documentation.
Main Responsibilities:- Grossing and Dissection: Assist in the preparation and performance of gross examination and dissection of surgical pathology specimens.
- Specimen Handling: Ensure proper accessioning and labeling of surgical pathology specimens under the indirect supervision of a pathologist.
- Clinical Data Management: Obtain pertinent clinical records, case history, laboratory data, copies of scans and X-rays when indicated.
- Communication: Use voice-activated transcription system to dictate gross descriptions and collaborate with pathologists to ensure accurate and efficient processing of specimens.
- A Bachelor's Degree in a health science or related field.
- Graduation from an accredited Pathologists' Assistant program.
- Completion of at least one year of clinical rotations in autopsy and surgical pathology grossing.
- ASCP certification as a PA or eligibility to sit for the ASCP certification exam.
$70,000 - $90,000 per annum, depending on experience.
