Role Responsibilities:
The Surgical First Assistant Technician will perform a variety of essential tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Incising surgical sites and providing necessary exposure.
  • Achieving hemostasis through various methods.
  • Manipulating and dissecting tissues as required.
  • Aiding in the implantation and removal of medical devices.
  • Applying appropriate dressings specific to the procedure.

Essential Skills:
Excellent communication and critical thinking abilities are required for this position.

Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Reviewing permits to confirm procedures and special requirements.
2. Confirming procedures with the surgeon.
3. Determining necessary equipment for surgical procedures.
4. Assisting in patient positioning and draping according to surgical guidelines.
5. Providing optimal exposure and retraction of tissues for visualization.

Additional Duties:
Maintain the integrity of the sterile field, assist in resuscitation during emergencies, and perform endoscopic and open vein harvesting as directed by the surgeon.

Qualifications:
Education:
Completion of a formal Non-Physician Surgical Assistant program accredited by CAAHEP.
Experience:
Preferred: One year of experience as a certified surgical technician - first assist.
Certifications:
Required: CFSA (Certified Surgical First Assist or CSA).
