We are seeking a highly skilled Communications and Networking Systems Engineer to join our team at MITRE. As a key member of our Resilient Communications Department, you will play a critical role in designing and developing adaptive communications and networking infrastructure to support various mission areas.
Key Responsibilities- Leverage your expertise in wireless communications, RF/analog hardware, antenna systems, and RF propagation to support a variety of projects.
- Analyze advanced networking concepts and address networking challenges to support a range of projects and sponsor needs.
- Use laboratory instrumentation to characterize the performance of commercial and military communications systems.
- Analyze RF system performance using various modeling and/or testing techniques.
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, or similar field with less than 1 year of related experience.
- Ability to possess/maintain a DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance.
- Eagerness to learn new skills and technologies.
- Interest in wireless communications, RF/analog hardware, antenna design, digital signal processing (DSP), networking, or other related technical disciplines.
- Experience using laboratory instrumentation in an academic or commercial environment.
- Interpersonal skills to effectively work in multi-disciplinary teams across organizations.
- Experience with software development methods and object-oriented programming, including experience in a modern programming language (C/C++, Python, Java, JavaScript).
- Understanding of networks and fundamental layer 3 and 4 protocols (e.g., IP, TCP, UDP, etc.).
- Experience using software tools like Docker and Git.
- Experience working with software defined radios (SDR) and DSP.
- Experience with designing, testing, and/or prototyping RF and communications equipment.
