Coastal Mechanics Company Inc. specializes in the production of precision-engineered components for the Aviation and Military sectors. We are in search of a meticulous Lead Cost Estimator who is eager to contribute as a dedicated team member in our expanding organization.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate will possess substantial experience as a Lead Cost Estimator within the Aviation or Military manufacturing domain. Familiarity with the US Government procurement processes, including DLA and SAM.Gov, is highly advantageous. To excel in this position, the candidate must demonstrate independence, confidence in interpreting technical manufacturing documentation, exceptional organizational skills, and outstanding time management abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze project documents, blueprints, and specifications to fully comprehend project requirements.
- Develop estimates for materials, labor, and external processes, along with comprehensive cost projections for products.
- Solicit and manage bids from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Utilize historical bid data from US Government projects to conduct thorough cost analyses.
- Present prepared estimates to management for evaluation.
- Submit bids to clients and monitor award outcomes post-contract.
- Track submitted bids and perform evaluations on results and unsuccessful bids.
- Engage in program management tasks, ensuring the company's performance on projects meets expectations (including timely delivery, client interaction, satisfaction, and issue resolution).
- Collaborate with industry vendors and foster relationships with other manufacturing entities as necessary.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting manufacturing drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong organizational capabilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective time management abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Lead Cost Estimator in a custom components manufacturing environment is required.
Physical Demands:
- Extended periods of sitting at a desk and utilizing a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally.
