This position is part of a prestigious government agency seeking an experienced attorney to work on complex legal issues related to child welfare, early care and education in New York City.

Key Responsibilities
  • Legal Drafting: The successful candidate will draft legal documents such as agency affirmations, affidavits, and other filings using standard legal techniques and practices. They will ensure that these documents align with agency objectives and meet legal requirements.
  • Laws and Regulations Interpretation: This role involves interpreting and applying laws and regulations governing child welfare, early care, and education in New York City, particularly in the context of specific programs managed by the agency.
  • Collaboration with the Law Department: The Staff Attorney will work closely with the New York City Law Department and outside counsel on various legal matters, especially in relation to defending against lawsuits. They will also assist with the production and management of agency records for litigation purposes.
Required Skills and Qualities
  • Knowledge of Child Welfare Law: A strong understanding of child welfare law, family law, and the juvenile justice system, particularly in New York State, is essential for this role.
  • Analytical and Research Skills: The ability to interpret complex regulations and laws and apply them effectively to specific ACS programs is crucial.

Salary Information

The salary for this position is based on experience and ranges from $35/hour for 0-1 year of experience to $49/hour for 1-7 years of experience.
