Job Summary

The Vascular Access Nurse Specialist is a key member of the healthcare team, responsible for ensuring the safe and effective insertion and management of vascular access devices. This role requires a high level of expertise in peripheral and central venous access, as well as a strong understanding of infection prevention practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' vascular needs to ensure safe and effective care.
  • Administer vascular access procedures, including peripheral and central venous access, using ultrasound technology as needed.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans that address patients' unique needs and preferences.
  • Educate patients, families, and healthcare staff on vascular access procedures and infection prevention practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices and guidelines for vascular access management.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A current RN license in Kentucky.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with concepts of intravenous therapy, including optimal vein use and vein preservation.
  • Experience with ultrasound technology for vein identification and line placement is preferred.
  • Current AHA certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
  • Current certification or eligibility to obtain Certified Registered Nurse Infusionist (CRNI) or Vascular Access Board Certified (VA-BC) designation is preferred.
