Healthcare Practice Management Apprentice

- ROLE OVERVIEW
- The Practice Manager Apprentice will collaborate closely with a supervisor and mentor to gain insights into the comprehensive administrative and clinical operations essential for the daily functioning of designated practice(s). This role entails a thorough understanding of various components including, but not limited to, financial performance, physician compensation (including incentive structures), coding and compliance, as well as credentialing processes. The apprentice will engage in both internal and external committees and is expected to foster collaborative relationships with physician leadership while addressing any arising issues. Training will encompass the assessment, planning, execution, and evaluation of all activities at the practice site. Throughout this apprenticeship, the trainee will acquire knowledge about budgeting, fiscal management, revenue cycle operations, patient satisfaction metrics, provider productivity, electronic medical record (EMR) implementation and oversight, and quality performance indicators. Additionally, the Practice Manager Apprentice will assist a supervisor in the recruitment, training, supervision, performance evaluation, corrective actions, and scheduling of staff. Upon successful completion of this program, the apprentice will be qualified to apply for a Practice Manager position within Berkshire Health Systems.
- QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
- Experience:
- Preferred but not mandatory: Supervisory experience or a demonstrated leadership role within a healthcare or physician practice environment.
- Education:
- A Bachelor's degree is required; a degree in Business or Healthcare is preferred.
- Licensure and Certification:
- No specific licenses or certifications are required.
- Additional Requirements:
- Familiarity with professional services, billing, and coding.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly in Windows-based and Microsoft Office applications.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for commuting to various practice sites.
- A professional demeanor.
- A positive attitude with demonstrated leadership potential.
- A willingness to learn in diverse environments and through independent study.
