About Duke Primary Care

General Overview of the Role

Execute a variety of technical tasks related to the operation of radiographic equipment and the production of radiographs for specified anatomical regions of interest.

Key Responsibilities

Perform various tasks associated with the operation of x-ray machinery to generate radiographs of designated anatomical areas. Adjust equipment settings to ensure optimal radiographic exposure in line with radiation safety protocols.

Communicate x-ray procedures clearly to patients.

Position patients accurately for each anatomical view, utilizing positioning aids and protective gear as required.

Monitor ancillary equipment and assist physicians during fluoroscopic and specialized radiographic procedures.

Process images accurately to achieve optimal quality, ensuring they are matched with the correct documentation for interpretation.

Record radiographic procedures; modify orders as per established protocols. Maintain acceptable film quality standards by evaluating positioning, technical parameters, and collimation.

Utilize the Image Archival System effectively.

Provide education and training to radiology technology programs affiliated with DUHS.

Offer orientation to new radiologic technologists.

Perform additional related duties as necessary.

**DUHS promotes career advancement and professional development within Imaging services, featuring a clinical ladder program with various levels and opportunities at each hospital within the health system.

Required QualificationsEducation

Completion of a program that meets the eligibility criteria for registry/certification or currently holds the necessary registry or certification.

Experience

Level I must achieve certification within 18 months of employment.

Level II requires a minimum of two years' experience as a diagnostic radiology technologist.

Level III necessitates at least 4 years' experience in the specialty modality for which promotion is sought.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

ARRT certification in radiography

ARRT certification within 18 months of hire

BLS certification
