Aircraft Technician

The Aircraft Mechanic II plays a crucial role in maintaining and repairing aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintains and repairs aircraft components, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
- Removes and installs aircraft subsystem assemblies and components, such as engines, rotors, transmissions, mechanical flight controls, and their components.
- Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions.
- Restores equipment condition and operation by applying required expertise.
- Solves moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation, such as aircraft technical manuals, maintenance information, blueprints, or manufacturers' manuals, and action messages.
- Servicing and lubricating aircraft and subsystems.
- Prepares aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks and services.
- Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections.
- Performs limited maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required.
- Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts.
- Requires broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair.
- Must have basic knowledge of electrical theory.
- Must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools, such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.
- Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
- Participate in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
- Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by mechanic.
- Required three years aviation maintenance experience, three years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS).
- Required level of experience necessary to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by skill class Mechanic I and must have a combination of experience to repair engines, sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty.
- Required thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, diagnosing problems, repair procedures, and replacement of parts.
- Required basic knowledge of electrical theory.
- Required thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools, such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.
- Required working knowledge of making entries in aircraft logbooks & records, military technical publications, and the Army's Unit Level Logistics Aviation Information System, ULLSAE.
- A valid up-to-date A&P license is preferred but not required.
- All mechanics assigned to perform maintenance on FAA certified aircraft must meet FAA requirements.
- Must provide own tools/toolbox. Tools must be shadowed and etched with PID.
- Driver's License
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.
- Frequently lifts parts and equipment up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally lifts objects up to 50 pounds.
- Most heavy lifting is accomplished through the use of mechanical devices.
- Work is performed in Aircraft maintenance hangar that is moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Work could be performed outside as well.
- May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
- The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance
- May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft.
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts, vehicles, or aircraft.
- Knowledge of military and/or company forms required by work specifications is a plus
