Key Responsibilities:

As a Patient Services Coordinator, you will:

  • Assist in achieving the objectives of Boston Children's Hospital by providing quality service.
  • Engage in ongoing education by completing all required annual training, including but not limited to care coordination and population health management.
  • Complete annual compliance training to uphold corporate standards.
  • Understand and communicate effectively regarding HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
  • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.

Essential Duties:

Telephone Management:

  • Schedule appointments promptly, considering patient preferences for clinicians and times.
  • Relay medical inquiries to nursing staff.
  • Facilitate urgent communications between patients and nurses.
  • Connect patients with billing representatives as needed.

Check-In Procedures:

  • Welcome patients at the front desk, confirming their identity and appointment details.
  • Verify and update patient information, including address and insurance details.
  • Ensure necessary documents are signed, including financial policies and HIPAA statements.
  • Provide patients with relevant questionnaires for their visits.
  • Direct patients to billing for any outstanding balances.

Check-Out Procedures:

  • Mark patients as checked out after their appointments.
  • Review superbills for follow-up appointments and schedule as necessary.
  • Collect payments in various forms, including cash, check, or credit card.

General Front Desk Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a positive demeanor and a welcoming atmosphere for all patients.
  • Stay informed about front desk operations and offer assistance when needed.
  • Support the use of patient management systems to enhance service delivery.
  • Uphold HIPAA confidentiality in all patient interactions.
  • Assist with appointment reminders and rescheduling as required.
  • Deliver care in a patient-centered manner.
  • Participate in team meetings and pre-visit planning.
  • Exhibit excellence in customer service.

Qualifications:

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience in a pediatric setting is preferred.
