Job Summary

Elderwood is seeking a compassionate Resident Care Aide to provide personal care support to our residents. As a key member of our care team, you will assist with ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by providing daily living and personal care services.

Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with daily living activities, including meal assistance, grooming, medication management, showering, dressing/undressing, toileting, and skin care.
  • Move and walk quickly and steadily in emergency situations.
  • Assist with wheelchair transport of residents.
  • Apply and utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Respond immediately to residents' requests.
  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADL's), including bathing, dressing, eating, exercise, housekeeping, meal preparation, assisting with medical supplies/equipment, positioning, grooming, toileting, transferring, personal emergency response, and routine skin care.
  • Notify supervisors of changes in residents' conditions or needs.
  • Maintain facility standards for resident care by ensuring all residents are treated with respect and kindness.
  • Report to nurses in charge about facility equipment that needs repair, unsafe conditions in rooms or on the floor, or personal needs of residents.
  • Complete at least 12 hours of in-service programs annually to reinforce or enrich knowledge of resident needs and care.
  • Assist with service in the dining room for all meals as needed.
  • Maintain facility standards for service and customer focus techniques.
  • Inform nurses responsible for the care of residents and document duties performed as necessary before leaving for breaks or the end of shifts.
  • Attend facility meetings, staff meetings, and required or preferred in-services.
  • Generate and develop ideas that improve the quality of care for residents or increase position productivity and satisfaction.
  • Perform all position duties according to safety rules and practices required for this position and as required to ensure the general safety of staff, residents, and visitors.
  • Exhibit the highest level of customer service towards residents, staff, and visitors.
  • Consistently demonstrate the ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner to meet current needs.
Qualifications
  • Eighteen (18) years of age required; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of Resident Care Assistant (RCA) training on Relias, including 22 modules and scoring 80% or better on post-tests within 21 days from start date.
  • Certificate of Completion will be maintained and placed in the staff member's Human Resource file.
  • Completion of 5 days (40 hours) of orientation with the RCA Competency being completed before the staff member works on their own.
  • Staff members should be completing their orientation (40 hours) and working simultaneously on the RCA Modules on Relias.
  • Staff members may work on their own after completing their (40 hours) of orientation and the RCA Competency is completed upon completion of orientation.
