Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Maintenance Supervisor oversees, coordinates, and ensures the safe and efficient operation of a designated work unit.

  • Assigns tasks, supervises, and evaluates the performance of team members within the assigned unit.
  • Implements production strategies in alignment with the approved schedule.
  • May engage in daily operational responsibilities, tackling the most complex tasks.
  • Monitors and assesses ongoing work, identifies issues, and directs corrective measures as necessary.
  • Conducts performance assessments for subordinate personnel.
  • Estimates staffing, materials, and equipment needs for upcoming projects.
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies and materials, approves purchases, and keeps detailed records of usage.
  • Trains team members on safety protocols and maintains updated safety documentation.
  • Performs additional duties as required.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED and five years of relevant operational experience, including supervisory or leadership roles, OR
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline related to mining, along with at least one summer internship in a mining or industrial setting, including supervisory or leadership experience.

Criteria/Conditions:

  • Ability to comprehend and apply verbal and written instructions related to work and safety in English.
  • Effective communication skills in English regarding job assignments and safety standards.
  • Capability to perform in a potentially high-pressure environment.
  • Work may occur in a mining or manufacturing setting, involving exposure to varying temperatures, mechanical parts, and hazardous materials.
  • Regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb, and work at heights.
  • Occasionally required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds).
  • May need to work rotating shifts in a continuous operation.
  • Personal protective equipment is mandatory in the workplace, including hard hats, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
  • Freeport-McMoRan maintains a drug/alcohol-free workplace through mandatory pre-employment and random testing as permitted by law.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary range for this position is $87,000-$121,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonuses, benefits, or retirement contributions. Actual pay is determined by experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
