Division Chief of Medical Oncology/Hematology Opportunity

Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport and LSU Health Sciences Center - Shreveport are seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Division Chief of Medical Oncology/Hematology.

The successful candidate will have a strong clinical and research focus, with exceptional leadership skills to guide the medical oncology division. Key responsibilities will include coordinating and integrating the core mission areas with the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center and the Cancer Service Line, working closely with the Cancer Center Director to advance the breadth of the Northwest Louisiana region.

As a member of the faculty at LSU Health Shreveport Medical Center, the appointed physician will be expected to have a strong commitment to the broad mission of the Hematology/Oncology Division, fostering outstanding clinical operations, program development, and coordination across practice locations.

Specific duties will include:

  • Leading the physician and clinical operations, program development specific to medical oncology and overseeing the medical oncology division.
  • Working in clinics in medical oncology with disease-specific subspecialty emphasis four days a week, meeting productivity and quality metrics adjusted for administrative duties.
  • Providing a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Participating in call as required for patient care.
  • Teaching fellow, residents, medical students as part of the hematology/oncology faculty.
  • Attending tumor boards as indicated, as well as attending tumor boards for other specialties at MCI.
  • Performing outreach to community physicians to develop relationships that will generate referrals, working with the business development liaison to create a referral strategy.

Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:

Must be board certified in medical oncology/hematology and have been practicing as a medical oncologist or hematologist for a minimum of 5-7 years. Previous administrative experience is required. Research experience with national funding is preferred. Specific information regarding the ability to motivate and lead a division towards improved research productivity by mentorship and teamwork will be requested.
