Responsibilities
  • Perform pre-shift exercise/stretching activity to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Work collaboratively as a team member, seeking help when needed.
  • Notify department supervisors of any problems or concerns.
  • Understand and adhere to safety precautions for operating machines and equipment.
  • Operate molding presses, open or close molds for repairs, and troubleshoot basic problems in the molding process.
  • Assist in setting and pulling molds, ensuring proper cleaning and inspection.
  • Inspect molds for completeness, including lift bar, mold feet, and casting spacers.
  • Ensure machine nozzle length is correct and set carriage and clamp positive stops.
  • Keep the shop area and work area around molding machines neat and orderly.
  • Check molds for water leaks and air leaks, and ensure proper electrical connections.
  • Understand the importance of the Mold Check Progress Form and mold cleaning procedure.
  • Clean and check molds, and assist other Tool Room employees in their repair of molds or equipment.
  • Wire and check all mold heaters, and water, air, and electrical test molds before leaving the shop.
  • Green-tag molds when they are production-ready, and notify Tooling Manager or Tooling Group Leader of damaged or in-need-of-repair molds.
  • Record maintenance on the Mold Maintenance File, including date, person, and work completed.
  • Notify Tooling Group Leader or Tooling Assistant Group Leader of supplies needed for day-to-day operation of the Tool Room.
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Tooling Manager, Tooling Group Leader, or Tooling Assistant Group Leader.
  • Understand and utilize established CPRO/ISO, HACCP, SQF, and GDC procedures.
  • Complete inspections as needed, and shut down molding machines or equipment when harm to persons or property is in immediate danger.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED equivalent.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work with others.
  • Honest, dependable, and motivated.
  • Good math skills.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of injection mold components, terminology, and their relationships.
  • Valid Driver's license.
  • Mechanical ability.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work around grease, oils, and solvents without adverse reactions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and squat throughout the shift.
  • Good manual dexterity.
  • Ability to differentiate color.
