This position is categorized as hybrid, involving approximately 90% remote work and 10% onsite at distribution center offices located within the Northeast Region of the United States.

The Sales Support Specialist will be pivotal in driving outcomes as the primary contact for designated Territory Managers and Customers. This role involves collaborative selling, providing administrative assistance, and promptly addressing inquiries and requests by leveraging in-depth knowledge of US Foods products, systems, and tools. Act as the main liaison among Customers, Territory Managers, District Sales Managers, and Product Sales Support Administrators, as well as other departments such as Operations, Credit, and Transportation. Engage in regular communication with customers, including taking orders, resolving issues, and proactively selling. Review orders submitted through US Foods Online to ensure accuracy and completeness, reaching out to customers with suitable alternatives when necessary. Provide administrative assistance to Territory Managers and District Sales Managers as required, escalating issues to the appropriate parties to ensure timely resolutions.

Our Sales Support Specialists can expect to start between $19.50 -$20.50/ hour based on experience and geographical location.

8:30 am - 5 pm EST

Main Responsibilities

  • Foster relationships with key customers to achieve US Foods Key Results.
  • Reach out to customers for orders and process them through internal systems, promoting customer engagement with US Foods.
  • Inform customers about ongoing promotions and opportunities to up-sell or cross-sell.
  • Collaborate with Territory Managers to support their customers through regular communication and drive sales performance.
  • Address customer and Territory Manager inquiries promptly, either by providing answers directly or escalating as needed.
  • Utilize proprietary US Foods systems and tools to efficiently address inquiries and provide insights.
  • Take responsibility for ongoing professional development.
  • Attend departmental meetings and training sessions to enhance product and vendor knowledge.
  • Provide administrative support to Territory Managers and Sales Management for processing credits, special orders, and other tasks.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding product receiving and pricing, ensuring accuracy.
  • Offer backup coverage for Territory Managers and manage weekend inquiries.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of customer service experience required; food service distribution experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills with problem-solving abilities.
  • Solid customer service orientation with the ability to influence customers effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple issues simultaneously and drive them to resolution.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
