Job Summary:

MRO is seeking a skilled Medical Records Specialist to provide support at various client sites for Release of Information requests for patient medical records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine records to be released by reviewing requestor information in accordance with established guidelines and regulations.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding Release of Information issues and provide accurate information.
  • Process requests from healthcare providers and facilities, and ensure timely and secure delivery of medical records.
  • Log and track medical record requests in a database, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Comply with facility policies, regulations, and industry standards, including HIPAA guidelines.
  • Handle and record cash payments at designated sites, maintaining a secure and accurate financial record.
  • Perform other assigned duties as required to support the Release of Information function.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in computer applications and data entry, with experience in medical records management preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and meet production goals, with strong attention to detail and a track record of dependability.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers and healthcare providers.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, with prior experience in Release of Information or a related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and industry regulations, including HIPAA, is highly desirable.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between facilities as required.
