About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Climate Policy Specialist to join our team at Progressive Maryland. As a key member of our policy team, you will be responsible for analyzing and developing legislative strategies to advance our environmental policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of climate policy, with a focus on strategies to end environmental racism and eliminate sacrifice zones.
  • Develop and implement winning legislative strategies to advance our environmental policies.
  • Collaborate with our communications team to develop messaging for social media, letters to the editor, and interviews with press.
  • Analyze and track pending climate legislation at the state and local levels.
  • Represent Progressive Maryland in coalition spaces with allies and other climate stakeholders.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in climate policy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate policy issues to non-specialist audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Basic computer literacy and a willingness to quickly learn and use new digital platforms.
  • A clear sense of the challenges our communities face, impatience in the face of those wrongs, and a drive to address them.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Maryland political systems on the city, county, and state level.
  • Direct experience in grassroots community organizing, canvassing, and phone banking.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary, commensurate with experience, between $55,500-$68,500. Benefits include 100% employer-paid health, vision, and dental insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan with an employer match, 2 weeks paid vacation, 6 personal days, 15 sick days, and holidays.
