Instrumentation Maintenance Specialist

Join the Idaho National Laboratory as an Instrumentation Maintenance Specialist within our Instrumentation and Controls Crafts division. Our team operates on a 4x10 schedule, allowing for a long weekend every week. All tasks are performed onsite.

Your primary responsibility will be to oversee the upkeep of instrumentation systems and apparatus at the Advanced Test Reactor and ATR Complex. You will report directly to the I&C Craft Foreman.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct maintenance activities (including corrective, preventative, predictive, routine, and troubleshooting) on instrumentation systems and components.
  • Offer insights to the planner regarding hazard identification, mitigation strategies, technical details, task sequencing, resource allocation, equipment needs, and other relevant information to create effective work documents for field execution.
  • Evaluate work orders/packages in accordance with INL work control protocols and provide constructive feedback.
  • Engage actively in INL briefings and post-job evaluations. Perform site assessments as instructed by the foreman.
  • Deliver on-the-job training to fellow craftsmen as requested by maintenance management.
  • Communicate with the foreman regarding any training requirements or enhancements needed to improve performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide recommendations to the Planning Manager or Planning Technical Lead on potential enhancements to the work order documentation process.
  • Maintain your qualifications in line with INL and relevant program qualification standards.
  • Plan and execute special projects within your area of expertise as assigned by the foreman.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, along with 4 years of relevant experience; or a relevant Vocational Certificate with 2 years of experience; or a relevant Associate degree.
  • This role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, necessitating U.S. Citizenship.

Compensation:

  • Salary: 2nd Class: $39.72/hour / 1st Class: $44.36/hour (Compensation may vary based on individual work location, clearances, and qualifications. These are bargaining unit positions.)

  • This is a testing designated position; candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug screening and periodic drug testing throughout their employment tenure.
